Class A Clubman Class A

Class A, the fastest of the GT Arena Clubman Class Cars

Class A is the advanced level clubman category, and requires class-A driving skills to master. This consists of fully-fledged sports cars such as the Mazda RX-7, BMW M3 and Nissan Skyline - in fact many of the poster-cars of the original Gran Turismo. Success in this category depends as much on set-up savvy as driving prowess, and with a whack of over 400bhp under the right hoof, racing is all the more hazardous to lesser drivers. Interestingly, with a softer compound of tyre than lower classes and a greater power-to-weight ratio, a 4WD car may not necessarily be more advantageous than, for example, an FR; especially over a longer race distance. Choosing a comfortable, predictable-handling car that does not devour its tyres is key...

Class A like all GT Arena Clubman Classes have power and weight limit restrictions, as well as restrictions based upon the base car you start with.

Tyre choice for any Clubman Class, including Class A, cars is open and up to the discretion of the event organiser but we recommend running Class A with Sports Softs or Mediums as a good starting point. Any aero that effects the PP of the car is banned in Class A.

There is huge diversity of choice within Class A, FR, 4WD, MR are well represented as well as even RR. Many Class A cars have their strengths and weaknesses, depending on the track type and layout. All the drivetrains lend themselves to the more experienced drivers, and 4WD for the novice, as it allows a much more stable platform to race closely, but there is fun to be had in any type you may choose.
